The role

Imagine being at the heart of the music that fuels creativity worldwide. As a Senior Software Engineer in our Sound Platform team (SPLAT), you'll be instrumental in building and maintaining the building blocks that empower all other product teams at Epidemic Sound. We're the engine that ensures everyone has seamless access to the right music and sound effects, enriched with accurate and comprehensive metadata.

What you'll be doing:

• Champion best practices in system design, development, deployment, reliability, and security for our critical sound infrastructure.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to power our internal sound library and metadata management.

• Collaborate closely with other product teams to ensure seamless integration of our sound platform into their products and workflows.

• Partner with product managers, engineers and other stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into robust technical solutions.

• Contribute to the evolution of our roadmap, bringing your expertise to shape the future of our sound platform.

• Clearly articulate technical concepts, challenges, and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

We're building the future of our sound platform using modern technologies, including:

• Golang (our primary backend language)

• Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

• Kubernetes and Docker for containerization and orchestration

• GitHub and GitHub Actions for seamless version control and CI/CD

• Grafana for insightful monitoring and observability

• Event-driven architecture and microservices to ensure scalability and resilience

What we're looking for:

• 5+ years of experience in building and operating backend systems at scale.

• A strong understanding of distributed systems and sound architectural principles.

• Solid experience in at least one backend language (we primarily use Go but experience with Java, Kotlin, Python works)

• Experience working with cloud environments.

• Familiarity with modern CI/CD pipelines and automation.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
