The role
We're looking for an A&R professional who’s passionate about discovering talent and supporting music creators in the instrumental mood and wellness music space. In this role, you’ll work closely with artists signed to Overtone Studios, providing creative direction, strategic support, and hands-on feedback to help them succeed. You’ll also play a key role in scouting and signing new talent, balancing long-term planning with day-to-day execution.
This role will be based in New York City (3 days per week in-office).
Job Summary:
- Scout, evaluate, and onboard new music creators within the mood and wellness space
- Own the flow of music briefs, ensuring the right creators are aligned with the right opportunities quickly and clearly
- Provide ongoing feedback and creative guidance to music creators to improve quality, consistency, and impact
- Curate and review submissions to help optimize content before release
- Collaborate with the Music team to build and evolve weekly release strategies
- Contribute to business development projects related to distribution through DSPs, YouTube, and other partners
- Monitor musical performance data and use insights to inform creator support and repertoire decisions
- Keep up with trends, genre shifts, and best practices in both mood music and the broader music industry
- Support additional projects as the team evolves
Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience in music, production, or audio engineering
- Strong creative instincts and a proven eye for talent in niche music spaces (bonus if that’s mood/wellness)
- Experience managing and communicating with a large, diverse group of music creators
- Deep understanding of A&R fundamentals: music production, mixing, mastering, repertoire management, artist development, and scouting
- Familiarity with DSP ecosystems, metadata, and the basics of music distribution
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently
- A collaborative mindset and comfortable working across teams and time zones
- Passion for data-informed decision-making, without losing sight of the human and creative side of the work
Compensation
This is a full-time, hybrid position, based in New York City. This position has a base compensation span of $98,000 - $120,000 yearly dependent upon experience.
Benefits include dental, health, medical, and vision plan options, 30 days vacation a year accrual, 6 months parental leave, 401k saving, and wellness benefits.
