The role
As a Backend Engineer, you will play a crucial role in Epidemic Sound’s Client Infra team, a core part of the Foundation area responsible for building the technology platform that powers the company’s backend services. Your work will directly strengthen the developer experience, improve productivity across engineering, and accelerate the company’s shift from a legacy monolith to a modern, scalable service architecture.
This role is central to enabling developers to deliver new features consistently, safely, and at high velocity. By designing and building modern platform components, workflows, and integrations, you help ensure that engineering teams across the company can rapidly innovate - an essential capability in a market reshaped by generative AI and evolving content creation needs. Your contributions directly advance Client Infra’s mission: providing robust, reusable, best-practice tooling and infrastructure for Go-based backend services.
You will join Client Infra, a team of six engineers within the Foundation area, which also includes SRE and the Data Platform. The team is focused on:
Building and maintaining a solid technology foundation for all backend teams.
Providing reusable service templates and best-practice workflows.
Ensuring developers have excellent local development tooling and ownership insights.
Owning critical infrastructure components such as authentication systems, CDN, and caching.
Requirements:
Past experience with developing in Go.
Experience as a heavy user of developer portals like Backstage, Port, etc.
Experience with GitHub and GitHub Actions for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
Soft skills:
Adaptability & Resilience – Thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a rapidly evolving business domain.
Problem-solving Mindset – Proactive in tackling legacy challenges and continuously improving tools, workflows, and processes.
Collaboration & Cross-functional Communication – Works effectively with teams across the organization; comfortable teaching, supporting, and guiding others.
It would be music to our ears if you have:
Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), infrastructure as code, and Kubernetes is beneficial as the team builds on top of these technologies.
Experience in a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or DevOps role.
Experience with Python is a bonus, as the company has some legacy Python code.
