(Artist perspective) A home away from home with Epidemic Sound
At Epidemic Sound, artists like Janset find creative freedom, real connection —where music meets purpose. In this Q&A, she shares her journey from poet to rapper, the power of sync, and how joining Epidemic has empowered her to break norms, build community, and the release of her debut album, Disruptive.

Janset, can you tell us about yourself?
I'm a MC and rapper from London. I’m breaking the mold within rap by not staying within any specific genre style. I’ve been writing poetry since a young age and when I was 14 I wrote my first rap song and I haven’t stopped since. I’ve been working with Epidemic Sound as an artist since 2023.
What made you want to join Epidemic Sound as an artist?
It’s a funny thing as I’ve been eyeing the sync industry for such a long time. I’ve been manifesting it ever since my first sync job six years ago. Through this job, I was able to see the power of sync and how my music was reaching all corners of the world.
When it came to partnering with an organisation, I wanted it to feel like family, where I could focus on writing songs and getting the support I needed.
Through the power of social media, I was connected with one of the scouts at Epidemic Sound and just from one meeting, I got such a good vibe from her and what the offering is. It was also so exciting that I would be Epidemic Sound’s first UK based signed artist. I didn’t understand how much at home I would feel with this company till I visited the headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden where I met all the amazing people and felt right at home.
How do you work with the Epidemic Sound team?
I work very closely with my A&R, Dilan. We speak a couple of times a week where I share inspiration or any ideas and we bounce off each other. It’s awesome that Dilan is a DJ herself so she understands the craft of an MC/rapper. Her role as an A&R is to give feedback on my tracks and connect me with the right people , these could be producers who I then collaborate with on tracks.
I also worked with other parts of the company such as Experiential Marketing where I travel with the team to various parts of the world to attend events or even perform for Epidemic Sound’s clients. I’m currently in NYC where I’m performing at our very first event post pandemic for ES clients, artists and network. I absolutely love having these kinds of opportunities as MC’ing is quite a new thing outside the UK so it’s nice to show people what it’s about.
I’ve also worked very closely with the Sales team. Epidemic Sound recently hosted a writing camp, which they do regularly throughout the year in all parts of the world with various different focuses, but this one was special as it was purely catered to one client’s needs. We created a bit of a wild card of a track for the client and they absolutely loved it (even posted it on their Instagram stories when we played it for them!) It’s so nice to challenge the norms of sync and what it should sound like.

How has Epidemic Sound supported you since joining us?
In so many ways, just the challenge of constantly writing has been amazing for me and knowing that these tracks will be used, unlike before where I wasn’t sure how my music would be shared. Through this partnership I’ve been able to keep myself creatively challenged and inspired.
Epidemic Sound has also given me a home. I didn’t want to work for a business that was just transactional or very formal and Epidemic didn’t feel like this at all. It’s been so warm and welcoming from the start.
Financially, Epidemic Sound has given me the opportunity to invest in my future and my music.

You joined Epidemic Sound for our annual Come Together week back in 2023 which was officially branded as JANSET week where you hung out and even performed for us a couple of times, how did it feel being part of the behind the scenes of Epidemic Sound?
Yes I remember arriving and being like holy sh*t what is going on here?! I mean I didn’t expect it to be like this. Comparing it to previous experience with labels and agencies, this was something different where everyone was welcoming me and excited to see what I brought to the table. I cried tears of joy multiple times that week as I was so overwhelmed by the love and appreciation.
In your perspective, what’s one thing that all Epidemic Sound employees have in common?
I can’t fathom how you can all be so lovely, real and genuine people. This is such a hard thing to find these days. I’ve also seen this with the other artists that work for Epidemic Sound. I remember when I first signed I got so many messages on Instagram welcoming me to the family.
I think everyone that works here are real human. You’re open, passionate and enthusiastic about what we are trying to achieve here.
I actually went up to the CEO and said to him “ I don't know how you've employed all these people that are just f*cking amazing.
What’s been a proud moment for you during your time at Epidemic Sound so far?
Honestly, the first trip to Stockholm because it was just the start of something magical and since then I’ve been able to put out music that I’m really proud of. I’m thankful for this. Lots of love to my Epidemic fam <3.
As much as the start was magical, so is my time right now. I’ll be releasing my first ever Album “Distruptive” with Epidemic Sound this. Check out my music here.
“Shaking sh*t up.
Braking the norm
Allowing change
Not playing it safe
Expanding horizons
Dismantling...
Disrupting everything
From the inside out."
