The role
As a senior backend engineer on our SPARX (Sound Production & Artist Experience) team, you'll be building and maintaining the systems that manage the entire lifecycle of our artist catalog, from onboarding to royalty payments. Our team's work ensures our artists are paid accurately and transparently, and that our catalog is ready for use across all of Epidemic Sound’s products.
This is a role with a strong focus on backend systems, where you'll take ownership of designing and building our services. While the focus is on backend, you'll also contribute to our frontend components when needed. The role involves hands-on development, solving complex problems, and a strong collaboration with our business teams to make sure our solutions meet real-world needs. You’ll be a key part of shaping our technical roadmap and improving our engineering practices. You'll work in a "you build it, you run it" environment, so a sense of ownership is key.
What you’ll do
- Design, build, and maintain our backend systems. Our future is in Go, but we also have services written in Kotlin and one in Python/Django that you'd work with.
- Contribute to our frontend components, primarily in React, when needed.
- Ensure our systems are scalable, secure, and reliable.
- Work closely with product managers and other teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
- Use pair programming and other collaborative approaches to share knowledge and improve code quality.
We’re looking for someone who has
- Senior-level experience with Go. We'd also be interested in senior engineers with Kotlin experience who are excited to learn Go.
- Strong skills in system design and architecture.
- Experience with cloud environments, like GCP, and with tools like Kubernetes and Docker.
- A strong product interest and business awareness, along with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with frontend development, like React.
A bonus if you have
- Experience with digital signing or contract management systems like Scrive.
- Experience with high-scale, business-critical services.
- A passion for shaping and building engineering culture.
- Experience building services with Python/Django
