As a Data Platform Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our Data Platform team, which is part of the Foundation area dedicated to building our internal engineering platform. Your role will be to evolve our data platform and the tooling for data ingestion, processing, and management.
You will play a pivotal role in building a scalable and robust data platform, directly enabling the company to leverage a broad range of data sources. By working to improve our Google Cloud-based data platform, you will help develop a cohesive system that allows users across the company to focus on building features and sharing data easily. You will be building out support for new features like streaming events, processing unstructured data, and implementing better data governance, ensuring the entire organization can run on high-quality, reliable data.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with a talented and diverse team to build and enhance our data platform for data collection, processing, access, usability, and monitoring.
- Create architectural guidelines, solutions, and best practices for data processing.
- Provision and manage resources in Google Cloud using Terraform.
- Manage new and existing data sources into our ELT and reverse ETL pipelines.
- Strategize optimal technical solutions for data governance, data cataloging and discovery, and data access.
- Ensure data quality and reliability through implementing standardized monitoring, CI/CD, and testing practices.
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand data requirements and develop solutions that meet their needs.
- Continuously explore and adopt new technologies and best practices to improve our data infrastructure.
Requirements
- At least 4-5 years of experience of working with data infrastructure, systems architecture, and GCP-related technologies.
- Hands-on experience of working/building ingestion frameworks and orchestration tools (like Airflow or Snowplow).
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.
- Strong experience with data pipelines, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure.
- Solid understanding of software engineering practices, including version control, CI/CD, testing, and documentation.
- Proficiency in Python.
- A love for teamwork and an ability to collaborate with Analytics Engineers, Data Scientists, and Machine Learning Engineers.
Nice to have
Experience with data security and compliance (PII handling and GDPR) and familiarity with Go is helpful, but not required.
